Hind site when I put the 4 pounds of live rock into the tank I should of removed a few cups of water before I did that. The Water level line on the side of the tank was above where you could see it. So I could not tell how much water evaporated so in turn I could not know how much RO water I would need to add back to the tank. This is also why there was a slight jump in my SG on the last test.
To resolve this issue I removed 6 cups of water. That brought the tank level down to where I wanted it. I took my labeler and marked the spot to watch as you can see in the pic below. Its a bit higher then the MAX line but that max line is for when your using the bio balls and the stock pump which I am not. I will be putting live rock into the 2nd chamber and the heater needs to be submerged enough as well. So the water in my case needs to be higher then what oceanic says it has to be. When I cut power to the pump the tank equalizes out no flooding or anything bad happened so being higher then max does not hurt anything.
So all that got my water level where it needed to be so I can monitor evaporation. To get my SG back to 1.025 I took out a cup of tank water and put a cup of RO back into the tank. I had to do this 3 times checking the SG each time until it read the same on 3 tests. I got my SG back to just under 1.025.
I will be ordering a refractometer soon as the cheap plastic hydro meter I got does not read the same all the time. You gotta bang it around till all the bubbles are off the reading arm or the reading will not be accurate.
